The history of Mayfield dates back to 1815 when explorer William Charles Wentworth was granted a Mayfield Crown Grant from the governor of NSW. Today the Settlers Cottage is a heritage-listed homestead and popular accommodation. Vines were first planted in ’99 and Mayfield vineyard was born. Since ownership changed hands in ’21, Mayfield has been given a breath of cool, crisp Orange air from root to bottle under the guidance of the Eastham family. Single-vineyard wines, minimal intervention and a focus on elegance, refinement and vivacity are at its core.
Cool climate range includes Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Rosé, Sparkling and Cabernet. Planted in 1998, Mayfield Vineyard’s natural features include an elevation of 950m with more than 900mm per annum rainfall. The cool climate compliments the rich loam and basalt soils to produce one of the top wine regions in Australia.
Mayfield’s most awarded wine, with vibrant gold straw with a youthful green hue. The aromas are lively with melon, citrus and stone fruit. The palate is youthful and vibrant. It is a wine of finesse with a rounded creaminess from malolactic fermentation that complements the fruit purity and natural acid. It has great length and will cellar for well over ten years.

From a single block at 880m elevation with soils dominated by quartz; aged in new French oak puncheons on lees for 11 months. White gardenia, lemon balm, pomelo and apple flesh. Oyster shell, crushed sand and nashi pear. The wine is tightly wound with crystalline minerality and a core of pure lemon Icy Pole citrus. Fruit is compact and oak cradles it like a hammock. This acidity shimmers like the sparkle of fresh snow, it’s agile, energetic and dances across the palate. Orange chardonnay handled just right, the vineyard expression up in lights. Stunning.
