This Premier Cru is a recent acquisition of the Estate, worked with respect for the environment. The horse was used to work the soil to preserve it from any settlement. Its aging of 15 months in Burgundy pieces is revealed on the nose, with spicy and aniseed notes. The mouth is a surge of mature but lively material, extremely concentrated, with a welcome touch of fat that nuances the attack. A great wine from the Côte de Beaune that should ideally wait a few years in the cellar to deliver the best of itself. Being at the very southern tip of the Cote d’Or escarpment, Maranges’ vineyards benefit from a southerly aspect, enjoying good exposure to the sun, and all its Premier Cru wines come from limestone-rich soils.
Varietal: Pinot Noir 100%, Surface area: 0.35 ha,

A solid dense crimson. Just racked so the bouquet is a little more disturbed. A dark raspberry fruit nonetheless. Good acidity, a well-made wine which has retained structure as well as fruit. Five years. Drink from 2025-2029. Tasted Oct 2022.
